The Accidentals are a five piece female vocal harmony group from Sudbury, Suffolk formed in 2010 following a request for a small group of singers to perform a one-off gig at Gestingthorpe Church. Fast forward seven years and a very varied repertoire has been built up – anything from The Andrews Sisters and American song-book oldies to 60s soul, 70s disco and even 90s and 00s pop! We do lean towards the easy listening scale of golden oldies.
Despite the nature of most of the repertoire, all of the singers are classically trained and you’ll notice that diverse and sometimes complex harmonies are a trademark of our performances. Playing a number of concerts in the summer months of each year, you can find us at village fetes and street fairs in south Suffolk, as well as at private parties and church flower festivals. We have played on BBC Radio Suffolk, for Lord Phillips of Sudbury and for Terry Waite at various fundraisers in recent times.
Typically, the Accidentals are backed by a four-piece band – the appropriately named “Flat Broke”.
